Helping Your Child to Write

By teaching top-quality literacy techniques, my students have established, grown and generated superior, creative writing styles to apply to all their compositions. Please visit the Student Writing Examples to read the students' superb writing.

Helping With Writing teaches you how to assist your child so that they may successfully write proper sentence structure, exciting sentence openers, verbs, nouns, prepositions and use punctuation accurately.

My hope is that your child may become proficient at composing pieces of work that they feel proud to have penned. Once they have developed a bank of writing strategies, they may easily transfer these skills to all of their writing projects.

Getting started on HelpingWithWriting.com

Sentence Structure helps your child to learn how to write sentences using English Grammar correctly. As you and your child work together, you have the opition of assessing their writing by using the Sentence Structure Review Rubric in the Sentence Structure section. To further facilitate your child's creative writing development work your way through the simple lessons on Sentence Openers.

To support your understanding of what the objective is of each lesson, read through it first and the definitions to help guide you in supporting your child's learning. Do the worksheets in small chunks of time; from as short as a ten minute session up to a twenty minute session. Play the games suggested in Tessie's tips on writing often and away from the desk or study area. Playing the games away from the the study area helps to commit what you are learning to memory. Have fun learning together! You learn more when you are relaxed. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or feedback.

Happy Writing,

Tessie :)
